Gunfight near the OK Corral
The place was Tombstone, Arizona territory. The time was Wednesday afternoon, October 26,
1881 and the setting was a vacant lot in the vicinity of the stables and sheds of the O. K.
Corral. But the frightened horses landed the O. K. corral as the name forever to be remembered
by the showdown
The showdown occurred with Morgan, Virgil and Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday being on one side
and on the other side were Ike and Billy Clanton, Tom and Frank McLaury and Billy Claiborne.
The O. K. Corral Gun fight lasted 30 seconds, Frank McLaury was killed by a shot from Morgan Earp's gun
fired from the ground after Morgan was hit. Tom McLaury was mortally wounded by a blast from the shotgun carried
by "Doc" Holliday, and Billy Clanton died from multiple chest wounds.
Imploring Wyatt not to shoot him as he was unarmed, Ike Clanton retreated into C.S. Fly's Photo Studio after being
told "The fight has commenced. Go to fighting or get away." The bullets started flying and so did Billy Claiborne,
dissapearing around a corner. Morgan Earp fell with a shoulder wound, Virgil with a leg wound, and Doc Holliday with a grazed left hip. Wyatt Earp
alone remained unscathed by the gun fight
At the time, these key players had no idea that they had just been involved in what would become the most famous
face to face gun fight in the history of the Old West. Over a hundred years later, it would still be a
movie maker calling card.
The Arizona Gunfighters recreate this legendary confrontation with a professional costumed cast of over 30 gunfighters.
